Modi discusses Pipavav project with Murli Deora
New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today held discussions with Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Murli Deora on the Pipavav Power Project and said the decision of the ministry to sell the entire gas to GAIL instead of GSPC was not fair.
During the meeting, Mr Modi said that this contradictory stand taken by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has raised apprehnsions that the Pipavav Power Project may not be getting gas even at the market related price. He sought personal intervention of Union Minister and said that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas should give suitable direction to the Panna-Mukta-Tapti (PMT) joint venture to sell gas to the Government of Gujarat owned company GSPC, since their quoted price was the highest in the market.
Expressing concern, he said the GSPC had quoted the highest price among all the bidders. The decision taken by the Ministry is against the best business practices and has therefore caused great injustice to the people of Gujarat.
