Military personnel assault Manager and staff at Airport

Barrackpore, Mar 11 (UNI) Military parsonnel allegedly assaulted the Manager and two of his employees at the Netaji Subhas International Airport at Dum Dum this morning.

Airport Authority Employees union sources said two millitary personnel assaulted the Manager Mihir Sarkar and his staff Arun Dey and Rajjak Ali.

The staff had allegedly told the army personnel to remove their car that was parked on a wrong side, near the manager's Office.

The armymen allegedly rushed to the airport Manager's office and asked the Manager 'how he dared to ask them to remove the army car'.

The armymen subsequently assaulted Mr Sarkar and his staff causing injuries to them, sources said.

The injured trio were provided medical assistance by the airport medical unit. A Senior army official, posted at the airport and the Airport Director B K Monga rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

An FIR has been registered with the Netaji Subhas Airport Police Police Station.

The incident irked the employees of the Airport Authority, who strongly resented against the high handedness and rude behaviour of the armymen and demanded punishment.

The matter was also reported to the Superintendent of Police, North 24 Parganas, sources said.
