Inclement weather bad for crops: Expert
Kanpur, Mar 11: The inclement weather persisting for the last three days is going to damage pulses, oilseed and wheat crops, senior agro-scientist of Chandra Shekhar Azad Agriculture and Technology University Dr Keim said.
''Widespread rainfall in Uttar Pradesh will affect pulse and oilseed crops and partially damage early sown crops of wheat and barley. Downpour accompanied with storm will also damage mango crop,'' he warned yesterday.
Dr Keim further informed there would be widespread rains during the next 24 hs.
Meanwhile, senior weather scientist V S Varma claimed widespread rainfall in the country was not a good sign for farmers, as it would disturb the climate. ''It is also a sign of drought in the monsoon season.''
