HASC defeats Tollygunge 2-0

Bangalore, Mar 11 (UNI) Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club defeated Tollygunge Agragami 2-0 in the second division ONGC Cup 10th National Football League here today.

Both the teams chose not to trouble the scorers till half time.

Striker Raju opened the account by netting the ball in the 56th minute, overcoming three defenders. The winning margin was increased by mid fielder E Mahendra Mani, who encashed a pass by Zenith Mashangva in the 72nd minute.

The Airmen could have increased the tally if Skipper A Xavier Vijay Kumar had not missed a clear chance in the 75th minute.

It was a totally one-sided affair as the Kolkatan outfit was no match for the trio of Nigerian striker Kenneth Onu, Xavier and Zenith, who, besides attacking, displayed their skill in preventing the opponents from bouncing back.

The win enabled HASC to share the second spot with Vasco Sports Club, Goa, with nine points each. Army XI led the table with ten points. Tollygunge had only one point to its credit.
