Goods train derails on Jalgaon-Surat line; trains diverted
Jalgaon, Mar 11 (UNI) Twenty-three wagons of a goods train derailed in the Bhusawal-Surat section of the Western Railway in the early hours today.
According to a Central Railway official at Bhusawal, 23 wagons of the goods train derailed between Amalner and Takarkhede stations on the Jalgaon-Nandurbar section at 0130 hrs, resulting in diversion of several long-distrance trains.
About 250 metres of track was uprooted. Cranes from Central and Western Railway reached the spot and began lifting the damanged wagons this morning.
Western Railway Divisional Railway Manager Arunendra visited the site today. The tract is expected to be restored tomorrow.
Meanwhile, at least a dozen trains were diverted on alternate routes, a report from Ahmedabad said.
The 8406 Ahmedabad-Puri Express, which left Ahmedabad yesterday, will return via Surat-Ratlam-Bhopal, a Western Railway release said.
The 9046 Varanasi-Surat Express is being diverted via Bhusaval, Bhopal, Ratlam and Vadodara and the 9047 Surat-Bhagalpur Express via Vadoadara, Ratlam and Bhopal.
The 7038 Bikaner-Secunderabad Express is being diverted via Surat, Vasai Road and Kalyan, while the 2656 Chennai-Ahmedabad Express via Bhopal, Ratlam and Vadodara and 2655 via Surat, Vasai Road and Kalyan.
The 8034 Howrah-Ahmedabad Express is being diverted via Bhusaval, Igatpuri, Vasai Road and Surat, while 8033 Ahmedabad-Howrah Express via Surat, Vasai Road, Igatpuri and Bhusaval.
The 113 Dn Surat-Bhusaval Passenger, which had left Surat yesterday, ran up to Amalner, from where it is being reversed as 176 Up.
The 175 Dn Surat-Bhusaval Passenger is now being run up to Amalner, from where it will return as 114 Up.
The 177 Dn Surat-Bhusaval Passenger is being run up to Amalner and will return as 178 Up.
The 178 Up, 176 Up and 114 Up (Surat-Bhusawal Passenger) will remain cancelled today, informed the release.
