Guwahati, Mar 11 (UNI) The Communist Party of India today released a list of nine candidates for the coming assembly election in the state.

CPI national executive committee member Promode Gogoi, releasing the list said, they have formed an alliance based on common minimum programme with the opposition Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Samajwadi Party (SP), ASDC, Asom United Democratic Front(AUDF) and the CPI(M) along with other tribal organisations of the state to defeat the ruling Congress. However, talks with the CPI(M) were on and likely to be finalised this evening, he indicated.

He stated that the Congress would have to face defeat in the state because of their 'corrupt' rule.

The party has decided to field candidates in Sibsagar, Nazira, Titabor, Morigaon, Golakganj, Silchar, Karimganj(North), Bilasipara (West) and Morioni. However, at Bilasipara(West) there will be a friendly contest with the AGP, he said.

Mr Gogoi will contest from Sibsagar.
