College professor convicted for looting ballot box
Bhind, MP, Mar 11 (UNI) A College Professor and a Mandi Committee Chairman were among seven people convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for looting ballot boxes from two booths during 1998 assembly elections in the state's Bhind district.
Gohad's Additional District and Sessions Judge R R Verma, who delivered the verdict yesterday, acquitted three other accused in snatching of ballot boxes from Andhiyari Kala and Andhiyari Khurd villages when presiding officers were sealing the boxes at the close of polling on November 25, 1998.
Gwalior College professor Keshav Singh Yadav, Mau Mandi Chairman Ashok Singh Yadav, Kunwar Singh, Megh Singh, Govind Singh, Prem Singh and Surendra Singh were convicted.
