Cold wave revives as snow continues in HP

Shimla, Mar 11 (UNI) The high altitude areas of tribal districts of Himachal Pradesh received snow for the third day today, while mid and lower hills were lashed by intermittent rains, reviving cold wave conditions in the state during the last 24 hrs.

Higher altitude areas of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnuar districts, Pangi and Bharmaour areas of Chamba district and the mighty Dhauladhar ranges in Kangra district were received intermittent snow for the third day today.

Petsio recorded nine cms snow, while Sisu and Koksar in Lahaul-Spiti received about three-foot snowfall during the last three days.

Keylong, the district headquarter of the district, received about one foot of snow till 1500 hrs today, official sources said, adding Rohtang Pass had also received mild snow during the last 24 hrs.

High altitude areas of Kinnaur district also received snow last night, but the sky was overcast for major part of the day today and official sources said the district was receiving snowflakes since 1500 hrs.

A report from Chamba said lower areas of Bharmaour and Pangi were lashed by intermittent rains since last night, while the higher areas were receiving snow.

The mid and lower hills of the state were lashed by intermittent rain during the last 24 hrs with Shimla recording 25.6 mm rain till 1730 hrs today.
