Miami, Mar 11 (UNI) Arjun Atwal ended up on the wrong side of the cut after dropping three shots on the par-four fourth hole and hitting a string of four successive bogeys on his way back in the 5.5 million dollar Honda Classic at the Palm Beach Gardens here.
Meanwhile, Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra leapfrogged to the tied third place with a sensational round of seven-under 65.
The former Asian Tour regular's bogey-free round started with four par shots before he reeled off four birdies in a row. On his way back, Chopra had a birdie on the 12th and he fired an eagle on the penultimate hole to aggregate six-under 138.
In contrast, Atwal had a miserable round with the birdies on the first and 17th holes being the only highlight. If dropping three shots on the fourth hole marred his front nine, his backward journey was hardly better as the Orlando-based Indian stumbled on the 11th hole, which marked the beginning of four bogeys on the trot to derail his campaign.
Meanwhile, World number eight David Toms of the US finished with another five-under 67 to total 10-under 134 for his sole lead at the top of the table after the midway stage.
Toms hit seven birdies and an eagle, besides two bogeys, to maintain a one-stroke lead ahead of compatriot Billy Mayfair, who had an identical round.
