Anti-corruption law for non-officials on the anvil

Mysore, Mar 11 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will enact within a month a law to cover corrupt non-officials and contractors, Rural Development and Panchayatiraj Minister C M Udasi today said.

Talking to mediapersons here, he pointed out that the existing laws held only the officials responsible for corruption.

''We have found in the inquiry reports of such cases the involvement of non-officials and contractors also. The new law will provide measures for action against them,'' he said.

Mr Udasi said the panchayatiraj system should function in a transparent manner without giving scope for complaints.

Earlier, the Minister held a review meeting of zilla panchayat along with officials of various departments and asked the officials to implement Government-sponsored programmes to benefit the needy.
