Allahabad HC directs authorities to check unplanned growth
Allahabad, Mar 11: Allahabad High Court has directed the Allahabad Development Authority (ADA) not to sanction any multi-storey complex in the civil lines, chowk and katra areas of the city in contravention of the city plan.
A two-judge bench comprising Justice A K Yog and Justice Prakash Krishna passed the order yesterday on a PIL seeking removal of unauthorised constructions and gross encroachments in the city.
The court observed that unplanned growth in the three areas have caused congestion and due to lack of parking places traffic jams have become order of the day.
The ADA was asked to check any unplanned building coming up in these areas and ensure that the parking places which were passed in the building plans be restored.
The court also asked the Chief Planner and Principal Secretary, Nagar Vikas, to submit a report on the multi-storey complexes and the traffic situation there. It also directed the civil lines circle officer to remove all encroachments in the area.
