Mumbai, Mar 11: Mumbai Congress president Gurudas Kamat today condemned the proposed Rath Yatra to be carried out by BJP's senior leader L K Advani and president Rajnath Singh, saying it would create tension in the country.
In a statement, Mr Kamat said the rath yatra would create tension in the country when all citizens need to rise above communal and casteist considerations.
''Mr Advani is only waiting for an opportunity to come into the limelight by raking up the non-existent issues after being humiliatingly dislodged by his own party seniors,'' he said.
Comimg to Mumbai affairs, Mr Kamat alleged that the BJP leaders like Kirit Somaiya, Ram Naik and others were trying to raise a bogey about citizens in Mumbai.
Referring to the BJP's proposed morchas to the residences of Congress MPs, he said the Union budget, while retaining the tax structure for all sections, has given various concessions in customs duty, excise duty and other incentives, which would benefit everyone, including those in Mumbai, and add to the economic growth of the country.
