US Pres visit to city will boost IT industry: Principal Sec

Hyderabad, Mar 2 (UNI) US President George Bush's visit here tomorrow will certainly boost the IT industry in Andhra Pradesh, according to state Information and Communication Technology Principal Secretary Ms Ratna Prabha.

She was speaking to reporters today after laying a foundation stone here for Vedams Software Solutions, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Vedams Inc., Vedams Software Solutions embarked on a major expansion plan with an estimated investment of USD 2 million over the next 10-12 months.

And to sustain the growth, the company is setting up a state-of-the-art technology facility in the IT corridor in Hitec city.

Vedams Software Solutions is an offshore IT Consulting and Software Development company providing internet based strategies and enterprise storage solutions to Fortune 1000 companies, start-up businesses to the US government.

President of Vedams Inc. USA, Ms Subha Rajana said the new facility is being set up with a built up area of 20,000 sq.ft spanned over three floors. It will focus on softare development and systems testing. The centre's R&D involves software research, development and testing in new technology platform supporting emerging grid based storage, storage cirtualization and high availability Network Storage Systems.

Vedams has selected Hitec city, Hyderabad, as the site for its next major offshore development center. When it is fully operational, the facility is expected to employ up to 200 people.

''Establishing this facility demonstrates Vedams long term commitment to continue moving its services and resources closer to its customers. We plan to double our R&D and QA capability in India in the next three months. Vedams also plans to setup a lab with cutting edge technology with an emphasis towards the storage space,'' Ms Rajana added.
