Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 2 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said the Dubai Internet City (DIC) had approved the draft of final agreement for the Rs 1,500 crore Smart City project at Kochi and the papers will be signed next week, subject to clearance from the Election Commission (EC).

Similarly, all the other infrastructure projects like Vizhinjam Deep Water International Container Terminal, Kochi Metro Rail and Kannur Airport project will progress as per schedule, though there will be no foundation stone laying ceremony.

Briefing newspersons here after a Cabinet meeting here, Mr Chandy said the Government Order on the Smart City project was issued before the announcement of the election. The state will write to the EC for clearance to sign the deal.

Though the government would take utmost care to adhere to the code of conduct of elections, it would not affect the day-to-day functioning of the administration, he added.
