Goods train derails; hits train services

Hubli, Mar 2 (UNI) A wagon of the goods train between Goa and Davanagere derailed between Haveri-Karjagi section of the South Western Railways (SWR) today, disrupting train services.

The SWR sources informed that the derailment took place in the early hours and under its impact track up to one kilometre was damaged, affecting services between Hubli-Bangalore and Bangalore-Hubli-Mumbai.

The Bangalore-Hubli intercity express was cancelled and several trains diverted.

The repair work was being done on warfooting and the line was expected to be opened for traffic by this evening.
