Four police killed in convoy ambush - police

BAGHDAD, Mar 1: At least four police officers were killed when gunmen attacked a police convoy in northern Iraq on Wednesday, a senior police source said.

The attack occurred as about 50 officers were being driven in minibuses to Tikrit, north of Baghdad, after a training course in the Kurdish city of Sulaimaniya.

As well as the four killed, at least seven were wounded and many others were feared seized, the source said.

Three Iraqi policemen said they had survived the ambush and told the source that around 10 of their colleagues had been abducted. The fate of the other policemen was unclear.
