Dimapur Referral Hospital handed over to EHA, CMC
Kohima, Mar 2 (UNI) Dimapur Referral Hospital was handed over to Emanuel Hospital Association (EHA) and Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, by Nagaland government as per a tripartite MoU signed earlier.
The formal transfer was done at a function at Dimapur yesterday in presence of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Health and Family Welfare Minister T M Lotha.
The hospital, re-named Christian Institute of Health Science and Research, would be functional within a few months and run by a society, representing the EHA, the CMC and the state government.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rio termed the occasion historic and a landmark in the history of medical services in Nagaland.
He welcomed the EHA and the CMC into the new venture and appealed to the medical fraternity, NGOs and the public to cooperate.
Dr Lotha, in his speech, said the Referral Hospital, which started in 1988, had attained its present status after many hurdles and it was the efforts of the people that had made the hospital a reality.
Opposition leader I Imkong, Democratic Alliance of Nagaland chairman Hokishe Sema and Industries Minister H Khekiho were also present on the occasion.
