Bru militant injured in an encounter

Aizawl, Mar 02 (UNI) A suspected Bru Liberation Front of Mizoram (BLFM) cadre was injured in an encounter with Mizoram police here at Thaiudawr village under Mamit police station last night.

Police sources today stated that acting on an information that BLFM militants were to enter Thaidawr village, apparently for their routine donation collection, a team of Mamit police was on a watchout in the jungle surrounding the area, when they spotted one Pobom Joy (28) armed with a country-made rifle.

Police said they shot at him as he tried to flee when challenged.

He was arrested in wounded condition, the sources said adding the injured was now being treated at the Aizawl civil hospital.

However, reports quoted that Pobom Joy claimed himself to be a mere bird hunter.
