BMC warns against cutting trees
Mumbai, Mar 2: The Brihanmumbai Muncipal Corporation (BMC) has warned the general public against cutting trees or branches without prior permission from the concerned authorities during the ensuing Holi festival.
BMC sources said cutting of trees without prior permission is an offence which will attract penal action under Maharashtra Urban Areas Protection and Preservation of Trees Act 1975.
Offenders will be fined and are also liable for imprisonment for a period ranging from a week upto one year.
