ASI plea to UNESCO on Heritage List
Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, Mar 2 (UNI) The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has appealed to the UNESCO to include the Sri Kalaisanathar Temple in Kancheepuram and Gingee Fort in Vellore in the World Heritage site list Addressing a gathering after opening an interpretation centre at the Big Temple here, ASI Madras Circle Superintendent T Sathyamoorthy said the considering the antiquity of the mounuments and the historical legacy, they could be included in the list.
The Big Temple and the Gangaikondacholapuram Temple already find a mention in the list. The Heritage List already contains names of 21 monuments in India, he disclosed.
