SC reduces summer vacations by a week on its own

New Delhi, Mar 1: The Supreme Court has reduced its summer vacations by a week on its own.

A notification issued by the Registrar ADMN-judicial R.C. Gandhi today said that the summer vacations of the court for the year 2006 shall be for seven weeks commencing from Monday, May 15, 2006 to July 2, 2006 instead of May 15 to July 9, 2006 as notified earlier.

The court shall resume its sitting on July 3,2006.

There has been popular demand for reduction of court holidays. Even President A.P.J.

Abdul Kalam has adviced the judiciary to reduce the holidays and to increase its working hours.
