Rosiah in his humorous best
Hyderabad, Mar 1 (UNI) In a reply laced with humour during the debate on the state budget, Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K Rosaiah asked if one could burn or bury himself simply because a burial ground was available at his village.
Replying to the charge of a senior TDP member that the government was incompetent because it could not avail ways and means facility from the Reserve Bank of India, the Minister said he was proud to say his government had not resorted to the facility even for a single day during its 20 month rule.
In contrast, the erstwhile TDP government had availed it for a minimum period of 290 days during its ten-year rule.
Admitting there was provision for availing the facility, he said there was a burial ground in every village and this cannot be a reason for anyone to avail the facility.
He said the government had adopted austerity measures and shunned extravagance to do away with the practice of the overdraft facility which was regularly resorted to by the erstwhile TDP Government.
