PollS announced, Assam parties Say they are ready

Guwahati, Mar 1 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today expressed his party's readiness for the coming Assembly elections in the state.

The Election Commission has announced that the poll will take place in two phases on April 3 and 10.

''We are ready,'' Mr Gogoi said. But sources close to the congress admitted that they were expecting the polls after the Bihu (April 14) festival.

BJP spokesman Ashok Singhal said, ''We are delighted. By the next Bihu Assam will get rid of the misrule of the Congress.'' The AGP is the only party to hit the road and their spokesman Apurba Kumar Bhattacharrya was confident that their party would form the next government.

''We will announce the first list of candidates within a day or two,'' said Mr Bhattacharjya adding the party had gone into the poll mode for last one month.
