Poll announced, Assam parties caught napping
Guwahati, Mar 01 (UNI) Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today expressed his party's readiness for the coming Assembly polls in the state.
The Election Commission announced that the poll will take place in two phases on April 3 and 10.
'' We are ready,'' Mr Gogoi said. But sources close to his party admitted that they were expecting the polls after the Bihu (April 14) festival.
BJP spokesman Ashok Singhal said, ''We are delighted. By the next Bihu Assam will get rid of the misrule of the Congress.'' The AGP is the only party to hit the road and their spokesman Apurba Kumar Bhattacharrya was confident that their party would form the next government.
'' We will announce the first list of candidates within a day or two, '' said Mr Bhattacharjya adding the party had gone to poll mode for last one month.
