JIPMER employees call off strike
Pondicherry, Mar 1 (UNI) Employees of the centrally-administered JIPMER hospital here today called off their three-hours-a-day strike.
According to JIPMER Employees Union, the employees held talks with the Director, who assured to take up the matter with the Union Government. In view of this assurance and also to avoid public hardships the agitation was called off.
The employees however, would organise gate meetings till March three and a delegation would go to New Delhi and submit a memorandum to all concerned opposing the granting of autonomous status to JIPMER.
The employees were on strike to protest against the reported move of the Centre to grant autonomous status to JIPMER.
