Four killed, two injured in UP poll clash

Ghazipur, Mar 1 (UNI) At least four people were killed and two others injured in electoral violence during the block pramukh polls in the Revitipur block here today.

Police said here that four people -- Udai Singh, Babloo, Sadanand Singh and Ramashish Singh -- were killed and Rishikesh Rai and Ram Vilas Yadav injured when a rival group opened fire in the Suhwal area of Revtipur block.

Agitated over the incident, a mob set afire two cars, besides destroying public property in the area.

Police Superintendent N Ravindra said that nine people have been arrested in connection with the crime.

Block pramukh polls were held today in five districts of Uttar Pradesh including Ghazipur, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Lakhimpur Kheri and Barabanki.

The remaining 64 districts had gone to polls on February 27, while election will be held later in Mau district.
