CRPF constable injured in landmine blast

Narayanpur, Mar 1: A constable of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was injured today when he stepped on a pressure landmine laid by the naxalites near the forests, about 8 Kms from here, in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, the police said.

A team of 35 CRPF personnel were returning to their base camp at Kusurnar when constable Mahendra Singh stepped on a landmine, triggering a blast around noon. The injured constable was hospitalised, they added.

The CRPF personnel had a brief encounter with the naxalites, who fired at the security forces from the nearby forests soon after the blast.

However, the extremists fled the spot as CRPF personnel immediately took position and retaliated.
