New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) Taking serious note of yesterday's Naxal attack in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh in which over 50 people were killed, the CPI(M) today demanded a structured debate in Parliament on Naxal and Maoist violence in the larger socio-economic perspective.

''This is not a mere law and order problem. We ought to discuss its genisis -- the socio-economic factors at the root of this violence, which we have always condemned,'' CPI(M) Rajya Sabha floor leader Nilotpal Basu told newspersons at a press conference in Parlaiment house premises. Party Floor leaders Basudeb Acharia and Rupchand Pal were also present .

Mr Basu said his party, alongwith other like minded parties, had always raised the issue in both Houses expressing the concern over the killings and violence.

''It is unfortunate that the both the ruling party as well as the oppostion were trying to play politics on the heap of the corpses.

The actual need of the hour is to study the serious problem in all its dimensions,'' he added.
