Kolkata, Mar 01 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said he was embarrassed to see wall writting still going on in the state despite a ban and wanted the Election Commission to hold an all party meeting to solve the problem.

" I felt embarrassed when I saw wall writting in my favour when I was going to a place. The same thing is going on in my constituency also. People are asking me. Such acts are leading to confusion among the people," he told reporters in reply to a question at the Writters Buildings.

The Chief Minister's comment came a day after CPI(M) state secretary Anil Biswas said his party was waiting for a guideline from the E C on the issue indicating that the CPI(M) was not ready to accept the state government's ban on wall graffiti.

Mr Biswas had written to the EC seeking national guideline on the modes of campaigning.

Maintaining a diplomatic silence on the state order, Mr Biswas had categorically said the EC was the authority of elections and related matters, and the party would abide by whatever it said.

He said the EC was the sole authority for election-related issues and no question should arise that the party was violating any order on wall graffiti. ''Such questions would arise only when the Model Code of Conduct comes into force with the announcement of election dates,'' he added.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said it was time that the EC took up the issue and call all parties to evolve a way.

" I hope that the EC will call all parties to find a solution to the problem over the wall writing," he said .
