Bush arrives in Afghanistan for first visit
BAGRAM AIR BASE, Afghanistan, Mar 1: U.S. President George W. Bush today made a surprise visit to Afghanistan to see for the first time the emerging democracy that replaced the Taliban he ousted in 2001 after September 11.
Security was tight for what was expected to be a five-hour visit to Kabul and Bagram, the main base for U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
Mr Bush stopped in Afghanistan on his way to a visit to India and Pakistan.
