New Delhi, Mar 1: The BJP today (Mar 1, 2006) demanded setting up of a Rs 10,000 crore corpus for the upgradation of security system to deal with naxal related violence and infiltration from Bangladesh.
BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra regretted that the government was not serious about internal security scenario in the country and secessationists were on the prawl expanding their area of operations.
He cited yesterday's naxal attack in Chhattisgarh, which claimed 25 lives, and said that the budget was silent on improving the security system to meet the growing challenges.
The infiltration from Bangladesh borders was another problem faced by the country and just because these infiltrators were prepared to support the ruling alliance, these elements were getting tacit support, he said pointing to the government's decision to bring the provisions of Illegal Migrants (Determination by Tribunals) Act on the whole country even after Supreme Court declared it as ultra vires and an aggression on the country.
