Chennai, Mar 1 (UNI) The All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) is waiting for an invitation from AIADMK General Secretary and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to forge an alliance with that party for the May eight Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, its State unit President Karthik said today.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the rank and file of the party wanted to contest the elections in alliance with the AIADMK.

''We have been waiting for Ms Jayalalithaa's appointment and we hope she will invite us soon for holding talks on electoral alliance,'' he said and added that a decision on the matter was expected to be finalised in a couple of days.

Mr Karthik said in the last few months, he had strengthened the party, which was hitherto confined within the Usilampatti constituency, in 15 districts.

A large number of youth, particularly students, had been enrolling themselves as party members, he said adding that the party's State conference would be held in Tirunelveli on March 12.
