MP Govt to provide bicycles to schoolgirls
Bhopal, Feb 28: The Madhya Pradesh Government will provide bicycles to schoolgirls going outside villages for education, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed the assembly today (Feb 28, 2006).
Intervening on a supplementary raised by Congress' Indrajeet Kumar during Question Hour, Mr Chouhan said earlier the facility was available to SC and ST girls and girls belonging to BPL families.
However, the Government has now decided to extend the facility to all schoolgirls.
He said the Government will endeavour to provide bicycles to girl students within a particular time period after the session began.
Commenting upon the feelings of questioning member, Speaker Ishwar Das Rohani said the girl students must get the bicycles by August.
The Question Hour ended five minutes earlier than the allotted time of one hour due to absence of members.
