JD (S) against Bush's visit: to release open letter

Bangalore, Feb 28: The Janata Dal (secular) will release an open letter to US President George Bush here tomorrow protesting against his visit to India and highlighting the danger to the country if it over-depended on the super power.

Party National President and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda would release the letter at a meeting to be held in the Party office here. JD(S) had joined the Left parties and the Samajwadi Party in opposing the visit of Mr Bush to the country and would be participating in the protest to be held in New Delhi on March two.

Party spokesman Y S V Datta told reporters here today that the JD(S) was of the view that excesss dependence on the US would be a peril to not only the economic sovereignty of the country, but also its security.

Senior leaders, including former deputy Chief Minister M P Prakash and former Minister P G R Sindhia, would participate in the meeting.

Later, the party leaders would meet to chalkout the future course of action in the state, including appointment of a new state President in the place of Mr N Thippanna.
