Three militants killed in South Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 28: Three militants were killed by security forces in two operations in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.

They said a militant Ashiq Iqbal Peer was killed by the security forces at Hadipora in Baramulla district late last night. The body of the slain militant was handed over to police this morning by the security forces.

However, the local residents alleged that Peer was arrested by the security fordes and later killed in the custody.

A defence ministry spokesman said a security force patrol party was attacked by militants at Drobgam in Pulwama last evening Reinforcements were sent from the nearby camps and the area was sealed off.

The operation continued till late last night during which two militants were killed.

Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were seized from the militants.
