Test on chicken confirm Bird flu in Gujarat
Surat, Feb 25: Bird flu has been confirmed in Surat district in Gujarat. It was learnt that the chicken were infected with bird flu. Chicken samples taken from two different poultry farms have tested positive for bird flu in Surat.
"The avian flu has been detected among some chickens from one poultry farm in Utchal taluka. It was confirmed by the Union Government on two samples out of 13 that we had sent from the region," said D K Rao, Gujarat Secretary for Cow Breeding and Protection.
However, authorities say there's no need to panic as all chickens inthe farms have been culled.
"Various preventive measures have already been taken to prevent spread of the disease among more birds or any human," he added.
