Alert sounded in UP for Mahashivaratri

Lucknow, Feb 24 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has sounded an alert across the state in view of the upcoming Mahashivaratri festival on February 26.

Principal Secretary (Home) Alok Sinha said here today that police administration in all districts especially religious cities of Varanasi, Ayodhya, Allahabad and Mathura have been put on an alert in view of the festival.

The district police chiefs have been directed to adopt all preventive measures to ensure that the festival passes off peacefully, Mr Sinha added.
