VSP to be expanded with Rs 9000 crore
Hyderabad, Feb 23 (UNI) The Centre has accepted the Andhra Pradesh government's suggestion to expand the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) at a cost of Rs 9,000 crore.
Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy gave this information while intervening during question hour when Industries Minister Dr J Geeta Reddy was replying to a question by BJP member G Kishan Reddy and others.
Dr Reddy said his government believed that encouragement to the Public Sector would supplement industrial growth and had prevailed upon the Central Government to accept the expansion of the VSP at a cost of Rs 9,000 crore.
He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh accepted the proposal and also agreed to lay the foundation for the expansion programme.
