Written by: Staff

Jammu, Feb 22 (UNI) Five Dhoks, which were abandoned by the army about a month ago, were set ablaze by militants at Malto near Chalad in Reasi tehsil of Udhampur district last night.

Official sources said during a massive seek and destroy operation launched by army in the densely forested mountains of Malto, troops of 54 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) had occupied five Dhoks to store arms, ammunition and items of daily use.

As the troops vacated the five Dhoks over a month ago and moved to another area, Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) local commander Mumtaz alias Tahir burnt them last night, the sources added.

Telephone cable connecting Lalna top with Chalad was also damaged completely in the blaze.

They said security forces had launched a combing operation in the area.
