Two killed, 9 injured in road mishap
Panaji, Feb 23 (UNI) Two people died on the spot and nine others were injured when a Goa-bound tourist car from Mumbai swerved after hitting a container truck head-on and later dashed on a motorcycle at Malpe in Pernem village of North Goa today.
Sources in Pernim police said the car after scraping the truck hit the motorcyclist who was coming in the opposite direction.
The injured, three of them in a serious condition, were admitted to Goa Medical College Hospital. Of them, one was reported to be unconscious, police said.
The deceased were identified as Bhaskar Shetty alias Vijay (28), a car passenger, and Chandralekha Joshi (35), a pillion rider. The latter was on her way to Patradevi in Maharashtra, police added.
