Trust members, freedom fighters holds dharna in Pondy

Pondicherry, Feb 23 (UNI) Members of the Edward Goubert Endowment Trust along with freedom fighters today observed a peaceful dharna at the Indira Gandhi Square here to press their demands.

The agitators led by Trust Chairman D Sivaraj were demanding among other things the provision of freedom fighters pension to those who opted for Indian citizenship after the liberation of Pondicherry from French rule and to honour Mr Edward Goubert,the first Chief Minister of Pondicherry, on par with Mahatma Gandhi.

The trust had sent memoranda to the President, Prime Minister and AICC President seeking their intervention.
