Thais to vote on April 2 in early election

BANGKOK, Feb 24 (Reuters) Thais will vote on April 2 in a general election called three years early by under pressure Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, the Election Commission announced today.

EC Chairman Wassana Permlarb told reporters he had accepted the date proposed by Thaksin, who is fighting a growing campaign to oust him.
