Teachers transferred for misbehaving with girls, probe ordered

Chandigarh, Feb 22 (UNI) Taking a serious view of the alleged incidents of misbehaviour with girl students in schools, the Punjab Government has taken a stern action against such erring teachers by immediately transferring them to far away places, besides departmental enquiries against them.

Three such teachers, who were transferred, included Malkit Singh of Government Senior Secondary School, Wajidpur Naugawan in Fathegarh Sahib district and Sardara Singh and Shingara Singh of Government Elementary School, Chakkar in Ludhiana dictrict, School Education Minister Harnam Das Johar said in a statement issued here.

They have been transferred to far away places -Khojki Chakk and Narot Jaimal Singh in Gurdaspur district and Ferozepur district respectively.

The Minister said although there was no incident of molestation of school girls by teachers in the state, Education Department has taken a serious note of such incidents happened recently in the neighbouring state of Haryana.

The Minister had issued strict directions to all the school heads to remain vigilant and attend to the problems of the female staff and girl students and take appropriate precautionary measures.
