Sugar prices ease on increased stocks arrival
Navi Mumbai, Feb 22 (UNI) Sugar prices became cheaper for the third consecutive day today on sustained heavy offers by stockists in view of larger stocks arrival from mills, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants' Association said.
The rates of small and medium grades dropped again by Rs 10 and Rs five per quintal respectively on renewed selling pressure by stockists in the face of poor demand by local dealers.
The rates of ex-mill, small and medium grades also were cheaper by Rs 15 for small grade and for medium grade by Rs ten per quintal on thin buying support by bulk consumers, traders added.
Following were the sugar spot rates per quintal: Small grade Rs 1,870/1,932, medium grade Rs 1,900/1,955.
Ex-mill small grade Rs 1,845/1,865, medium grade Rs 1,880/1,905.
