Students from other states prefer to study in J K

Jammu, Feb 23 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir minister for Transport Mangat Ram Sharma today said the education sector in the state has excelled and come up a long way as thousands of students from other parts of the country prefer to get education here.

Addressing a function here he said, ''the state government is keen to strengthen and improve the education sector here with the financial assistance of the Central government.'' ''Massive expansion of infrastructure under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan and Rehber-I-Taleem programmes has enabled the extension of educational facilities to the remotest areas,'' he added.

Stressing the importance of girl education, Mr Sharma asked parents to take keen interest in the education of female child.

''An educated girl of a family means education of the whole family and it is the prime duty of the parents to keep close rapport with the teachers and school management to ensure that children at the school are given quality education, he added.

On private sector, which has played a pivotal role for providing quality education to the children, he said, ''opening up of educational institutions in far-flung areas has excelled academics as well as other extra-curricular activities in the state.'' UNI HGV HS PC2012
