Stand-off in MP Assembly, Oppn stages walkout
Bhopal, Feb 23(UNI) The stand-off between Speaker Ishwardas Rohani and opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly today took a new turn with the opposition members raising slogans in the well of the house and staging walkout twice during question hour alleging they were not getting adequate time to raise supplementaries.
Rejecting the opposition charge, Mr Rohani advised the members that their behaviour towards the chair should be decent and the Speaker could not be muted.
The house was plunged into din when the opposition members resorted to slogan shouting in the well of the house alleging they were not being allowed to raise supplementaries.
Suspended BJP member Sunil Nayak's certain comments on the working of the police were expunged by the Speaker, who ruled that corruption charges should not be levelled without proof. The opposition members contended that even the ruling party member was raising allegations.
Earlier, non-Congress opposition members staged a walkout alleging they were not being allowed to raise supplementaries. On this, the Speaker said if the member concerned was satisfied, there was no need to raise supplementaries.
