Special teams for surprise checking in Bihar jails
Patna, Feb 22 (UNI) The Bihar Government willconstitute special teams to carry out surprise inspections of all jails in the state.
Inspector General (Prisons) Jeevan Kumar Sinha informed Patna High Court through an affidavit that special teams being constituted to conduct surprise raids in the jails would be equipped with sophisticated gadgets to trace hidden prohibited objects, including mobile phones.
Mr Sinha informed that legal aid cells were being set up in jails and digital cameras would be installed to photograph all visitors.
Jammers would be installed shortly to check the use of mobile phones, he added.
Earlier, Patna High Court, during the hearing of a public interest petition, had directed the state government to take special measures to prevent the use of mobile phones and other prohibited items in jails.
The counter affidavit was filed after the HC issued notice to the state government to inform the court about the steps being taken in this regard.
