Six killed in cracker unit blast in TN
Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu, Feb 22 (UNI) At least six people were killed and several injured when an explosion ripped through a cracker manufacturing unit here today.
Police in Sivakasi told UNI that according to initial reports, six people were killed in the blast, which occurred at the Pepsi Fireworks Manufacturing Unit in Maraneri Police Station limits in Virudhnagar District of Tamil Nadu.
Unconfirmed reports, however, put the toll at ten.
Several people were injured in the blast and at least three people, who suffered extensive burns, were rushed to a hospital.
Senior police officials along with a medical team have rushed to the spot to supervise relief operations.
The explosion occurred at around 1700 hrs.
