SGPC chief to attend World Sikh Meet on Feb 26

Amritsar, Feb 24 (UNI) Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar will attend the proposed World Sikh Conference to be held at Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib district of Punjab on February 26.

The Conference is being organised by the Dhuma-faction of the Damdami Taksal.

A release issued by the SGPC yesterday said Jathedar Avtar Singh would attend the Conference as it would discuss issues concerning all Sikhs.

There were apprehensions in certain 'panthic' quarters that the SGPC would boycott the Conference as it is being organised by the Dhuma-faction, which is at loggerheads with the SGPC.
