SAC registers complaint against minister's wife, brother

Jammu, Feb 22 (UNI) The State Accountability Commission (SAC) has received a complaint against the wife and the brother of Jammu and Kashmir Rural Development Minister Babu Singh.

SAC sources said one Som Raj has alleged, in a complaint to the commission chairman Justice (Retd) R P Sethi, that Mr Babu's wife had been using his official car for her personal use.

He also alleged that the Minister's brother was working as his PRO in violation of a government order, banning appointment of relatives as PROs by ministers.

The ban had come following public complaints that such a practice faciliates corruption.

The Minister's wife, who is teacher in a government school at Kathua, frequently used the official car of her husband for her personal use while his brother, a higher secondary teacher, continued work as his PRO.

Justice Sethi has sought a reply from the minister in this regard, sources added.

The Commission was set up by the state government last year to fight corruption in the administration effectively.
